Mixing it up.

Seeing A single Man made me think about people that aren't film makers first and foremost but who mix it up and give film a go.
Tom Ford is of course a fashion designer. The only other two who come to mind is photographer Anton Corbijn who made the brilliant Control and also photographer Sam Taylor Wood who made Nowhere Boy (which I'm yet to see).
Who else?
I'm going to add to this list when I'm not so tired.

  1. Another photographer – Kubrick. His Chicago photos for Look Magazine were really something – moody and ambiguous – very noir. You can see lots of similarities between them and his early films like Killer’s Kiss and The Killing. Seems like a good time for artists and films - Taylor Wood, Steve McQueen made Hunger which is great in a please-don’t-make-me-watch-that-again kind of way, and that lunch-beast Julian Schnabel as well.

  2. Oh Julien Schnabel. Ahhh now I want to write about him. You've reminded me of his greatness. Yes HUnger is a good film that I never want to see again. I haven't seen either of those Kubrick films....but they are going on the list.
